Office Visits Now Available In Aledo

April 19, 2018

The Chiropractic Place For Mommy and Me signI’m very excited to announce that, starting next week (beginning April 23rd, 2018), I will start offering office visits in Aledo at The Chiropractic Place for Mommy and Me, located at 301 Elm Street, Aledo, TX 76008.

Homevisits are still available, and I have no plans to change that, but office visits will now be an option as well.  This may be a good option for some or all of your appointments if:

  • you feel more comfortable being seen in an office setting.
  • privacy is limited in your home, due to other children, guests, or roommates.
  • your living situation is in flux.
  • you need to get out of the house.
  • it’s just more appealing to you for any reason.

Office hours available are more limited than my homevisit schedule at this time, and are by appointment only. This is a great option for an initial consult, where you can meet me and decide if you want to hire me without having to invite me into your home before ever meeting me. Even if you much prefer homevisits, which most of my clients do, this is also a great option for any number of unanticipated things that may come up.

Already a client and want to be seen in office? Just let me know, and we can re-plan your next appointment to be an office visit. Thinking about setting up a free consultation at the new location? Contact me and let’s do it!

  • These cookies have a wild story, the full version of which I will save for another day, but the important part is that they were a thank you gift to the EMS who responded to a homebirth that didn't go exactly as planned.
This is a hard, but necessary subject. Birth is a biologically normal event that almost always goes smoothly and safely. Almost. But occasionally it doesn't. Most midwives have a large skill set for handling emergencies, from watching for early warning signs, to regular training and practice for resuscitation, but sometimes a little more help is needed. In those instances, kind, compassionate, respectful care from emergency services is invaluable. It is life saving. And it is oh so very appreciated.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my gratitude for the best experience I have ever had when needing to call for backup at a homebirth. ❤

Huge thanks also to @doula_barb for getting these amazing #cookies from @kyleenbakes and for the great company on the adventure to deliver them.
  • Not everyone loves laboring in the water, but the pool can be an amazing tool for relaxation in labor.

  • Postpartum herbal bath ready to go to a postpartum visit this morning. Each one is mixed specifically for the needs of the individual client, with a combination of herbs meant to help reduce swelling, lower risk of infection, and encourage tissue to knit back together.

  • Pregnancy changes the body dramatically over the course of many months. Given that, why is immediate recovery such a common expectation for a body that has just grown and birthed a whole new human? A lack of rest in the few weeks postpartum can result in extended postpartum bleeding, increased risk of anemia, extreme fatigue, and more. Rushing back to life as it was before pregnancy can also compromise sutures if you recieved any, lead to back pain that can be debilitating if your core muscles have not recovered, or further separate abdominal muscles if they are already apart from the pregnancy (called diastisis recti). While sometimes economic circumstances mean going back to work sooner than desired, your body will thank you if you leave the non-essential things for later and rest after birth.

How long after birth was it before you started to feel back to whatever is normal for you?

  • Big siblings can be a part of birth too. While this isn't the right fit for every family, or every big sibling, birth can be a great bonding experience for the whole family with a new baby.

  • This baby wasn't exactly to scale because their head was much further down in mom's pelvis than I could draw, but here's an almost perfectly OA (occiput anterior) term baby, all lined up for birth. Thank you to mom for letting me share your gorgeous belly!

  • What happens after baby is born at a homebirth? There's so much information out there on navigating the labor and birthing process, but the first few hours after get discussed a little less.
While every birth is a little different, most follow a similar pattern. Baby goes straight into the arms of the person who just pushed them out into the world, and aside from some basic monitoring and delivering the placenta, the client and baby get undisturbed time together until they're ready.
The cord is cut when the client is ready. A newborn exam is done when they're ready. Any necessary, but non-urgent care is done when the client is ready. Then, when everyone is settled in, fed, and stable, the birth team leaves the new family to rest in their own bed.

  • I'm so excited to announce that I will soon be able to offer office visits in Fort Worth (for those who want them) at the Precision Chiropractic office on Bryant Irvin road! In the city and want to set up a consult at this location? Just give me a call! In Parker county and still want to be seen in Aledo? Don't worry, that's also still an option!
